African Empires ist eine Erweiterung zu Monumental mit neuen Zivilisationen und Spielmechanismen, einschließlich Quests, einem neuen kontinuierlichen Spielmodus und fortgeschrittener Wirtschaft.
The quests add so much more to do each turn, and the new civilizations actually feel distinct from the base game. Advanced economics took a round to click, but now I can't imagine playing without it.
The new continuous play mode is the real highlight here, since we can finally run a campaign over multiple sessions without resetting everything. Advanced economics initially overwhelmed two of my regulars, but by game three they were wheeling and dealing like pros.
The quests add a whole new layer I didn't know I wanted in this game, and the continuous play mode means we don't have to pack it up after one session. Advanced economics took a round to click, but now it's the part I think about most. Easy five stars.
