Life is a long and winding road. The anticipation is great, but you mustn't begin your journey without gathering The necessary provisions. In inner compass, you play as one of four characters searching for meaning in their everyday lives.
The four playable characters each handle the provisioning phase so differently that my second run felt like a completely new game. Losing a turn to bad weather stung, but that's exactly the tension that kept everyone at the table past midnight.
I didn't expect a board game about provisions and anticipation to feel so tense, but the way each of the four characters pushes you down a different path kept everyone at the table second-guessing their choices. We've played it three nights in a row now, which almost never happens with my group.
The four playable characters each change how you plan your provisions, so my second run felt completely different from my first. Learning that you can't just rush the road without gathering supplies first is a clever twist.
