Base Ten Flips is a flip stand designed for teaching the concept of base ten. Numbers are displayed on one side according to their place value, while the other side features base ten blocks that can be expanded to demonstrate trading across place values. It is also compatible with separate base ten block sets.
My daughter finally gets that the blocks on one side match the numbers on the other, and she's only six. Flipping through the cards to show 10 ones trading for a ten rod made it click in about five minutes.
The flip stand makes place value so much easier to explain — my son can flip the cards and physically see how 10 ones become a ten. The base ten blocks on the back side match up perfectly with the numbers, which really clicked for him.
My 7-year-old finally gets tens and ones thanks to the blocks side matching the numbers side. The flip stand itself is sturdy enough that it doesn't tip over when he's flipping back and forth.
