KING OF TOKYO: DUEL - As night falls on Tokyo, two massive silhouettes rise from the smoke snaking up from destroyed skyscrapers. There can only be one who will be crowned King of Tokyo, either by annihilating their Rival or by inspiring terror and awe from the crowds.
The two-player tug-of-war over Tokyo is way more tense than the multiplayer version, since every card you buy feels like a real tradeoff. The artwork on the monster boards is gorgeous too. My game group keeps requesting rematches.
The tug-of-war scoring in this two-player version keeps every round tense right down to the final dice roll. Plays in about 30 minutes, which is perfect for when you only have one friend over.
Picked this up to settle game nights with just my wife, and the tug-of-war over who holds Tokyo is way tenser than our old back-and-forth games. Having only two silhouettes rising from the smoke keeps every turn meaningful, no downtime. We've played it four nights straight now.
