Pairs は、James ErnestとPaul Petersonによってデザインされた新しい定番パブゲームです。シンプルなプレッシャーカードゲームで、勝者はいませんが、敗者は一人だけいます。デッキは55枚のカードで構成され、1から10までの数字が1×1、2×2、3×3、…、10×10のように並んでいます。シンプルで、速く、そして楽しいゲームです。
The Princess and Mr. Whiffle は、子供向けの本のように見えますが、実際にはそうではない、Patrick RothfussとNate Taylorによって作られた本です。このデッキには、ファンタジーアーティストであるNate Taylorによる不気味な子供向け絵本のイラストが含まれています。また、3人から6人用の入札ゲーム「Kitty」のルールも含まれています。
Grabbed this for game night and it went over way better than I expected. The 55-card deck plays fast, and since there's no winner, just one loser, everyone stays engaged right to the end. The Princess and Mr. Whiffle art is a nice bonus too.
The press-your-luck mechanic is what makes this one shine — you keep drawing because ten points feels safe until someone flips that second ten and you're out. Took it to a bar with four friends and we were yelling at each other within ten minutes.
We've already played this five times tonight with different groups, and the press-your-luck tension gets everyone laughing, even the person who ends up losing. Love that there's no winner, just one poor soul holding the losing card — it keeps the whole table engaged to the very end.
