Quick answer
Start your first game of Medieval Academy by setting up the board, distributing student tokens, and following the semester structure of jousts, tournaments, studies, and quests.
What makes Medieval Academy unique
Medieval Academy is a competitive board game where players take on the role of students at a chivalry school. Over six in-game months, you'll gain or lose points through jousts, tournaments, library studies, and quests. The student with the most points at semester end wins.
How to set up and play Medieval Academy
- Set up the board and tokens: Unfold the game board and place it in the center. Each player chooses a student token and places it on the starting space. Shuffle the deck of event cards and place them face down. Make sure each player has a clear view of the board to track their progress.
- Understand the semester structure: The game is played over six rounds, each representing one month. Each round has two phases: the Event Phase (draw and resolve an event card) and the Action Phase (choose one activity: joust, tournament, study, or quest). Plan your actions carefully; you cannot repeat the same activity in consecutive rounds.
- Score points and win: After all six rounds, tally the points earned from each activity. The student with the highest total wins. In case of a tie, the student with the most quest points wins. Keep track of your points on the score track to avoid surprises at the end.
