Clacks: A Discworld Board Game is gebaseerd op het "Clacks"-semafoorsysteem — het snelste (niet-magische) berichtensysteem op de Schijfwereld — uit de roman Ga Postbode van Sir Terry Pratchett.

Met behulp van een semafoorsysteem met luiken en lampen bovenop hoge torens heeft de Grand Trunk Semaphore Company de langeafstandscommunicatie op de Schijfwereld gerevolutioneerd. Hun netwerk van torens bestrijkt het grootste deel van het Naamloze Continent, maar nu vecht de oude postdienst terug. Gedreven door de vastberadenheid van de nieuw "vrijwillige" Postmeester Moist Von Lipwig heeft het Postkantoor van Ankh-Morpork de Clacks-operators uitgedaagd tot een race van Ankh-Morpork naar Genua.

I've never played a board game that made a fictional messaging system feel this tense — routing your clacks towers before your opponent shuts yours down is genuinely nerve-wracking. Reading Going Postal years ago didn't prepare me for how satisfying it is to actually send a message across the Disc.
